Conservatory Renovation Highcliffe

DPR Home Improvements recently helped a client in Highcliffe transform their cold south-facing conservatory into a well-insulated and comfortable room that captures natural light all day.

The customer informed us that their conservatory was too cold in the winter months, and that they wanted to maximise natural light throughout the day as the sun rose in the east and set in the west.

Our team realised the best solution was to demolish the old conservatory & build a brand new room with brick walls, double glazed windows, patio doors and insulated roofing with glass sections to let in just the right amount of sunlight without compromising warmth or insulation.

To achieve this ideal balance, we carefully selected sections of the roof to install triangular top windows along the sides.  This would allow natural light to enter while retaining the insulating benefits of the roof and cavities.  By combining effective insulation with the strategic positioning of glass sections, we were able to create a space that is both warm in winter and filled with natural light throughout the day.

This project was carefully managed by DPR Home Improvements, with our team ensuring all key elements were completed to the highest possible standards.  This involved the safe removal of the old conservatory and relocating a drain, before the new build could begin.  We then coordinated with trusted professionals for the brickwork, plastering and electrics, while carrying out the full installation of the new windows, bifold doors, roof, insulation, plasterboard, window boards, and floor screeding ourselves.

Our strong project management and skilled network of tradespeople ensured that the job ran smoothly, resulting in a flawless finish that aligned perfectly with the client's specifications.

"We retired to Highcliffe from the South East seven years ago.  We were downsizing and the house we purchased had a conservatory, which seemed like an ideal additional room.  However, we soon realised the drawbacks and limitations of a conservatory.  It was about 10 years old with double glazed windows, a polycarbonate roof and was south facing; it was boiling hot in the summer and bitterly cold in the winter.  In the summer the temperature was regularly over 35C and in the winter down to 5C.  It wasn't the additional living space that we'd hoped for - there were only a few months of the year when the room was at a comfortable temperature, so we used it more as a storage room than a living room.  Also, any heavy rain on the polycarbonate roof made a loud and unpleasant noise.
